Why Here, Why Now? Opening Address by Dora E. McQuaid to the DRI SEXUAL TORTS SEMINAR

November 13 – 15 2013, San Diego, CA

The Penn State scandal is the most recent high-profile example of the risk of allegations of improper sexual conduct faced by educational institutions, churches and other religious organizations, youth clubs and groups, and custodial medical facilities.  That risk implicates civil liability, availability of insurance coverage, employment practices and medical professional liability. Our speaker, an internationally-known victim’s advocate and former Penn State faculty member, whose image replaced that of former Penn State coach and convicted pedophile Jerry Sandusky in the mural at Penn State, will discuss the impact allegations of improper sexual conduct have on the accuser, the institution and the community to provide a broad context for the issues that defense counsel, our clients and their insurers face when confronted with such allegations.

Presented by DRI: The Voice of The Defense Bar, DRI’s Employment and Labor Law Committee, Insurance Law Committee and Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee.
