RAPE CULTURE IN THE U.S. ELECTION

I have stayed out of the public discussion of this election cycle in the United States until now and now my heart is on fire and I will not choke in silence on what needs to be said, again and again.

Dismissing sexual assault as men’s locker-room talk is rape culture in action. I don’t care if it’s your mother, daughter, sister or wife being talked about. She. Is. A. Person. And EVERY WOMAN in this country deserves being treated with respect, of mind and body both. EVERY WOMAN deserves a leader of this country who protects her instead of excuses, allows or perpetrates her being degraded, humiliated, objectified, assaulted or raped. And the fact that so many of us need to stand together and state this yet again shows us just how prevalent the rape culture and it’s dangers to all of us still truly are.

Our daughters are listening. Our sons are listening. We are deciding, in part, their and our own worth, right now.
