The last days of May, daylight stretching seemingly endless, twilight like a breath held long…
I love the wild and clever array of memes celebrating Bernie Sanders at the United States Inauguration on Wednesday January 20, wearing his knitted mittens and looking like he had other errands to run before the day was over. Bernie provided the release-valve humor to the almost unbearable tension of the previous two weeks, especially since the attack on the Capitol Building in Washington, D. C., on Wednesday January 6 and the resultant threat of violence during the Inauguration of the new administration. I’m grateful for humor to carry us when we need it, and also for art and beauty and guidance to grace us otherwise.
With that in mind, I am so ready for the memes celebrating the astonishing array of women representing full badassery during Wednesday’s Inauguration. Their presence, power and vibrant support of one another gives me hope, especially as we celebrate this moment in history that took 245 years to reach with Kamala Harris being our first woman, and woman of color, to serve as Vice President of the United States.
What an astonishing moment this is to be alive for, to witness, to celebrate for all of the women in United States history who stood and worked and fought and joined together to make this moment possible for all of us.
ALL PEACE TO EACH ONE OF YOU. DORA
